Breaking news: Dodge recalls defective vehicles made from 2000-2003
According to CNN, the government has told DaimlerChrysler to recall 600,000 popular Dodge vehicles:
Dodge Durango SUV Dodge Dakota pickup truck
The Durango and Dakota are two of the most popular vehicles on the road, but may possess a very dangerous flaw.
CBS News says federal safety regulators demanded the Dodge
recall after investigating premature wear of the trucks' wheel
assembly following numerous reports of the wheels suddenly
detaching and flying off.
The investigation was prompted by complaints from drivers
around the country. Some Durango drivers were put in dangerous
situations when the SUV's front-end ball joints failed.
The company revised earlier statements that the flaw was not
serious enough to mandate a safety recall.
