Cerebral palsy is a medical condition that results in a person having reduced control over movement and posture. This type of birth injury is often the result of a medical mistake that allowed the child to be deprived of adequate oxygen during pregnancy, labor or delivery. This lack of oxygen causes brain damage that results in cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy is most often accompanied by reduced mental function, impaired speech, vision or hearing. A child with cerebral palsy may experience trouble sitting up and walking, or be affected by involuntary actions, such as drooling. The child may also have difficulty writing or cutting with scissors.
Parents of children with cerebral palsy are often left with the incorrect impression that their child simply has a birth defect that could not have been prevented. Yet there may have been some hidden cause or negligence of which the parents are unaware. Sadly, the best way to help these children lead fulfilling lives has yet to be determined, because cerebral palsy has no cure.

A cerebral palsy lawsuit can be an effective weapon against
unreasonably dangerous or negligent doctors. In most cases, in
order to be successful in a cerebral palsy lawsuit, the breach of the
standard of care, causation and damages must be evaluated. A
cerebral palsy lawyer can help evaluate a claim against a doctor,
midwife or hospital.
Medical malpractice can contribute to cerebral palsy, brachial
plexus and other birth injuries. Most parents have no way of
knowing what happened to their child and many do not know where
to begin to search for answers.
